Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) in Fletcher, North Carolina introduced simplified parking on September 10, 2026: Premium Parking ($22/day), Standard Parking ($15/day), and Shuttle Lots A, B, and C ($12/day). This guide explains each option, what changed, and when to arrive.
The New Parking Products (Effective September 10, 2026)
- Premium Parking — $22/day ($3.00/hr up to 3 hrs): The closest lot to the terminal, a mix of surface and covered/garage spaces. 1,374 spaces.
- Standard Parking — $15/day ($3.00/hr up to 3 hrs): Convenient lot close to the terminal; walk or take an AVL shuttle. 687 spaces.
- Shuttle Lots A, B & C — $12/day: Farther from the terminal, served by AVL shuttles to the front curb. 570 + 481 + 287 spaces.
What Changed from the Old Lots
- The former Hourly Lot ($30/day), the upper Daily Lot, and the Garage ($17/day) became Premium Parking ($22/day)
- The lower Daily Lot ($12/day) became Standard Parking ($15/day)
- Shuttle Lots A, B & C continued unchanged at $12/day
- Some parking entrances and traffic patterns changed — allow a little extra time while the transition continues under AVL Forward
When to Arrive: Data-Driven Recommendations
Peak Travel Times (Expect Full Lots)
- Monday mornings (5am-9am): Business travelers and weekend returners. Premium and Standard lots fill first.
- Friday afternoons (3pm-8pm): Weekend travelers departing. All lots become crowded.
- Holiday periods: Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Year's weeks, Spring Break, July 4th week. Arrive 2-3 hours early.
- Summer weekends (June-August): Increased leisure travel. Parking tight on Friday-Sunday.
Best Times for Easy Parking
- Tuesday-Thursday midday: Lowest parking demand
- Late evening departures: After 8pm typically has good availability
